Bathroom Trash Can Makeover

Before this makeover, my bathroom trashcan was just unappealing.  It was a burgundy color with highlights of pink and white. It did absolutely nothing for the space and it was an eyesore to look at.
I decided to give my entire bathroom a makeover. That also meant that the trashcan had to go. As a way to save money, I figured I could just paint it and give it a new life.
For this project you will need:
  •  A trash can (Duh),
  • Painter's tape,
  • Rustoleum Coral spray paint
  • Rustoleum Metallic Gold spray paint

Step 1: Remove any loose dirt or dust with a damp cloth. You don’t have to use fancy products.  Just get some ole fashion soap and water.  Let it dry.
Step 2: Use the Rustoleum Coral spray paint to cover the entire trash can (inside & outside).  Make sure you follow all instructions on the can of spray paint.  Don’t forget to keep the can moving while painting so you don’t cause any drippage. Let it sit for about 30 minutes before applying the second coat of paint. Let it dry completely after the second coat.
Step 3: Use the tape to create a pattern.  Place the tape at the rim of the trashcan with a little bit on the inside.  Go down one side of the trashcan, across the bottom and up the other side.  This will create one full stripe on each side of the trashcan.  Create each line about an inch apart (just eyeball this part) to create a vertically striped pattern.  This step does not have to be perfect (mine sure wasn’t).
Step 4: Spray paint the outside of the trash can using Rustoleum's Metallic Gold spray paint.  Again, you will need to do two coats of spray paint. Let it dry for at least 30 minutes to an hour.

Step 5: Carefully remove the tape after the paint is dry. If you remove it too fast, you risk messing up the coral paint underneath. After removing all the tape, you should be done. Now you have a beautifully made over trashcan that brings life to your bathroom.
